Upper Level Softball Division Descriptions

Softball Minors (AAA) – League Age 9-11

Two practices per week for approx. 1.5 hours as weather and daylight allows. 1-2 games per week, practices approx. once per week as games start and weather and daylight allow. Saturday games will be few and far between for this level, typically only as a makeup. Players receive a jersey and a visor to keep. At this level players are pitching for the entire game, they will also be learning how to steal. Tryouts are required, there will be a tryout time for the players to attend. No movement of players to another division will happen prior to the parents being contacted by the League Player Agent, a Player Agent, the VP of Softball or the President of the League. This division does involve a draft, there are no cuts in Little League, all players will be placed on a team. If a player cannot make a tryout they will enter into the draft as a hat pick and be placed in the division that suits their league age. A hat pick means that the player will be a blind pick at the end of the draft for whatever Coach is next in line for a pick. For any parents that have questions related to the draft process please see our operating manual located on our website. Minors is the first year a player can be eligible for All Stars for Softball. If the player attends tryouts, meets Little League International requirements and District requirements they may tryout for All Stars.


Softball Majors – League Age 10-12

Two practices per week for approx. 1.5 hours as weather and daylight allows. 1-2 games per week, practices approx. once per week as games start and weather and daylight allow. Saturday games will be few and far between for this level, typically only as a makeup. This level continues building on pitching speed and strength in addition to the other aspects of the game. First year playing league age 10’s and 11’s should play at the Minor level to build skillset and reaction time. Tryouts are required, there will be a tryout time for the players to attend. Any league age 10’s and 11’s that would like to be considered to play in the Major division are asked to register in the Major division and will be asked to attend this tryout. No movement of players to another division will happen prior to the parents being contacted by the League Player Agent, a Player Agent, the VP of Softball or the President of the League. This division does involve a draft, there are no cuts in Little League, all players will be placed on a team. If a player cannot make a tryout they will enter into the draft as a hat pick and be placed in the division that suits their league age. Saturday games will be few and far between for this level, typically only as a makeup. This level continues building on pitching speed and strength in addition to the other aspects of the game. First year playing league age 12’s should play at the Major level to build skillset and reaction time. Tryouts are required, there will be a tryout time for the players to attend. Any league age 12’s that would like to be considered to play in the Juniors division are asked to register for the Junior division and will be asked to attend this tryout. No movement of players to another division will happen prior to the parents being contacted by the League Player Agent, a Player Agent, the VP of Softball or the President of the League.
